Zico’s impact upon Vágner Love

The signing of Zico for CSKA Moscow was not only brilliant for his abilities as a manager but will strengthen the already solid-ties that club has within the rich Football world of Brazil. For CSKA supporters this also brings together a stunning combination of Zico and sharp-shooter Vágner Love. The young goal-scorer spoke at length with media giant “Sports Express” of the managerial appointment and his future with the legendary club:

“When I found out that Zico would head CSKA, I was very happy, said Vagner Love. And the reason is not that he is my compatriot. CSKA players got a unique opportunity to work with a football legend. To say that Zico’s name is well-known in Brazil means to say nothing. He is idol of million of people and supporters of Flamengo, which is the most popular club in Brazil.

“I read about his talks with CSKA on vacations. I wanted him to join our team, so I am very glad that everything happened as I wanted.

“It’s pleasant to hear that football specialist of such high level likes my performance. I will do everything possible for not disappoint Zico.

“I have been playing in CSKA for a long time, and I think this club is one of the best European clubs. And the fact that Zico headed it proved my words one more time.

“I could leave this team only if I get an offer from a top European club only if this offer would be good both for CSKA and me.

“Pre-season preparations have just started, so it’s not time for conclusions. I can only say that team has been training during several days and players gradually return to our best form.

“I have no doubts that CSKA will manage to play much better than previous autumn. With years to come we become more experienced, that means we are capable to solve more serious tasks.

“At first we should play against Aston Villa in UEFA Cup, then in the Russian Supercup. I always try to think only about the closest match, while the closest one is scheduled for February 18 in Birmingham.

“To my mind our rivalry with Aston Villa will be very tough, because English team is really strong. I know only one thing – no matter how strong is our opponent, CSKA always have chances to overcome it.”

With camp opening and the first UEFA Cup less than a month away we’ll see the results of the deadly combination at work soon enough.
