Zenit Saint Petersburg v VfB Stuttgart match preview

By: j | February 25th, 2009

Defending UEFA Cup champions travel to Germany holding a narrow 2-1 advantage over VfB Stuttgart. Most troubling to Dick Advocaat’s side is the “away” goal VfB scored at Petrovsky Stadium and they cannot afford to be too cautious. To complicate matters for Zenit, Ukrainian international Anatoliy Tymoschuk and Radek Šírl are both suspended along with long-term injuries Tomáš Hubočan and Nicolas Lombaerts and ‘keeper Vyacheslav Malafeev is questionable. VfB is without Matthieu Delpierre, Arthur Boka and Yildiray Bastürk and Ludovic Magnin is questionable with a bad cold. With good conditions at Neckarstadion, the match is expected to be highly attacking affair as both sides look to advance.

Enjoy the match and I will report on it as it concludes.
