

Week 28 Summary Rosgosstrakh Championship of Russia

In a rare occurance matches were spread out over four days starting first with Khimki’s notable turn-around to avoid relegation continuing as they fought Tom’ Tomsk to a 1-1 draw (report here)
On Saturday Samara Kryliya Sovetov made up ground on Zenit Saint Petersburg with a 2-0 victory over Spartak Nalchik with goals from Yevgeny Savin and Leilton. With remaining matches against Saturn Moscow Oblast and Terek Grozny, Krysy is in good position to squeeze into one of final UEFA Europa League spots. Elsewhere Marko Topić added another goal to his remarkable campaign scoring the lone goal in Saturn Moscow Oblast’s 1-0 victory over Shinnik Yaroslav

On Sunday, Lokomotiv Moscow frustrated Spartak Moscow 1-0 (report here) in what could prove to be the “spoiler” match for Spartak’s European hopes. Dynamo Moscow plowed through Luch-Energiya Vladivostok with a efficient 2-0 victory with veteran Dmitri Khokhlov opening the scoring just before the half-hour mark and Aleksandr Dimidko closing off the victory with eight minutes remaining.
In the heavyweight battle of the day Amkar Perm’ and Zenit St Petersburg fought to a 1-1 draw. Former Dynamo Kyiv-man Georgi Peev gave the Red-Blacks lead with twenty-minutes remaining. However ten minutes later after that controversial penalty was awarded and Ukrainian international Anatoliy Tymoschuk brought the match level. Finally, Florentin Petre spoiled the party in Kazan as Tricolorii capped midfielder scored twice leading Terek Grozny over Rubin Kazan
In the final two weeks of the campaign all matches start at the same time. Upcoming this Saturday are the following great matches with the first two, CSKA/Rubin Kazan and Zenit/Dynamo having a massive impact upon European efforts.
