The deal to send Andrei Arshavin to Real and Daniel Güiza to Zenit
By: j | January 5th, 2009As reported earlier amongst the dirty little rumours circulating this transfer season, is that the apparent deal that involves Daniel Güiza leaving Fenerbahçe for Zenit Saint Petersburg. However the mix is getting stirred up a bit more as apparently this deal is being orchestrated with disgruntled Russian international Andrei Arshavin bidding farewell to Saint Petersburg and joining Juande Ramos at Real Madrid.
The sticking points of the deal are that both Zenit and the Turkish club are looking for roughly €20m, although I expect flexibility on that and more concerning, Real Madrid’s new manager Juande Ramos has not received the best review from Andrei’s Russian teammate Roman Pavlyuchenko from his time leading Tottenham. If the later hurdle can be crossed, the most like situation is a straight swap of strikers finding there new home and Fenerbahçe being paid out by Real Madrid.
I will update as additional information is made available.
