the Anatoliy Tymoshchuk saga

By: j | December 1st, 2008

As the Zenit Saint Petersburg season wound down in domestic league play, one of the hottest topics was the future of Anatoliy Tymoschuk. The twenty-nine year-old midfielder was the solidifying force for Zenit and typified the finest qualities a leader could have. While the club dealt with endless distractions, primarily dealing with Andrei Arshavin the Ukraine international never faltered whether being a stalwart defending or providing reliable drive in the attack. In the latter stages of the campaign rumours of Bayern München bidding for his services became a constant within the media. German media outlets were reported “secret” meetings in München this past weekend to which the Bavarian general manager Uli Hoeneß has confirmed. The “saga” is far from concluded and expect Zenit to make a sincere effort to retain their skipper.
