Spartak Moskva keeps winning under Valery Karpin

By: j | May 12th, 2009

Spartak Moskva responded to last weeks loss to Dinamo with a overwhelming 4-0 victory over Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast.

The victory continues the extraordinary play under Valery Karpin that has seen Spartak climb to fifth in the table, winners of their last three of four matches. After Jürgen Röber’s side came close via Aleksei Ivanov’s early effort, Spartak opened the scoring as nineteen year-old Yevgeni Makeyev notched his first goal six minutes in as he accepted Vladimir Bystrov provision from the bye-line and pounded the ball in from seven metres. The end to end play continued and led by youth Spartak doubled its lead fifteen minutes later as Artem Dzyuba poached on rebound from Welliton’s effort from the right. Valery Karpin’s side continued the onslaught making it 3-0 only five minutes later as Vladimir Bystrov led a fast charging break from his own end down the right flank before an artistic back flick at top speed to Welliton to close out from eleven metres. With eighteen minutes remaining Welliton added his second of the day to complete the 4-0 triumph.
