Spartak Moscow v Dynamo Kyiv match review

By: j | August 27th, 2008

The destruction of Spartak Moscow at the hands of old-rival Dynamo Kyiv is complete as they obliterated them 4-1 in a Champions League qualifier match for the second time in as many weeks.

This wasn’t even as close as the horrible score-line reads as the Ukraine squad were in-front at the four-minute mark as Oleksandr Aliev waltzed through a seemingly hypnotized Spartak defense and plunked the ball into the back of net. Twenty minutes later Taras Mykhalyk cross was flicked on by Ismael Bangoura and I was more concerned of a serious blow-out and complete destruction of the Spartak confidence. Dynamo sent waves of attackers and somehow managed to avoid scoring a wealth of goals. Two minutes after the break Spartak’s Artem Dzjuba brought the visitors to within one and a sense of respectability. Dynamo seemingly didn’t take to kindly to such a close score as Artem Milevskiy scored two minutes later and then again twelve minutes from time. Dynamo Kyiv advances and Spartak Moscow has a great deal of soul searching to go through in order to get back into the hunt for a European bid.
