Spartak Moscow v Amkar Perm’ match preview
By: j | August 16th, 2008Another unique match that has far too many intangibles in the mix. Spartak Moscow is reeling from be blown apart in Champions League qualifying by long-time rivals Dynamo Kyiv at home, which resulted in Stanislav Cherchesov being axed and Igor Lediakov taking over. This was to be a “simple” match between two clubs in a titanic clash for a European spot but now it has many other story-lines.

As noted this is an intriguing, yet completely unpredictable match given the dynamic changes at Spartak Moscow this week. After stumbling miserably mid-week against Dynamo Kyiv and firing their manager, how the club reacts is unclear. Amkar Perm’ have been playing a very dreary offense of late and are drifting slowly down the table. I’ll be watching this match closely to see how Spartak Moscow reacts.
