Spartak Moscow UEFA Cup match v Baník Ostrava

By: j | September 18th, 2008

It’s hard to understand whether we will see the “new look” Spartak Moscow or not in todays UEFA Cup match against Baník Ostrava given new manager Michael Laudrup has just taken over. However with a week under his belt he’ll be better prepared for this match and I expect a greater attacking flourish. As he has stated this is one of the clubs priorities:

“We still have ten league matches left in the season and we’ll aim to finish in the top two to qualify for the Champions League. We also have the UEFA Cup this year and we’ll try to get good results there as well.”

The Czech Republic Baník Ostrava feature a number of top flight players most notably ex-Ajax man Tomáš Galásek and fellow internationally capped Czech striker Václav Svěrkoš. Martin Lukeš and René Bolf solidify a very capable outfit that will be a handful at home in Ostrava.

I will report on the match as it concludes.
