Roman Pavlyuchenko to Tottenham?

By: j | July 31st, 2008

Juande Ramos swoop for Russian players doesn’t end with Andrei Arshavin as the BBC is reporting that the they are in contract talks with Spartak Moscow’s Roman Pavlyuchenko. The twenty-six year-old internationally capped striker is a natural predator and capable of scoring from virtually any angle. Additionally his locker-room leadership is strong and he consistently is known for his solid relationship to community, which is important to the North London club. He is apparently valued at £15m which is a bargain in todays transfer market in lieu of his abilities. Assuming the BBC’s report is accurate, I still don’t see Roman and his family heading to London given his extensive involvement in charitable circuits in Moscow and the long-term roots he is developing with Spartak. However the possibility of he and Andrei playing together might change this.

I will update as further information becomes available.
