FC Moscow v Legia Warsaw match review

By: j | August 14th, 2008

In a exciting, late-building match, FC Moscow edged Legia Warsaw 2-1 today. For much of the first half, the squads took a very tactical stance and after a scoreless first forty-five minutes, FC Moscow took a two goal lead with strikes from Edgaras Cesnauskas at the fifty-second minute mark and brilliant young-winger Alexander Samedov added the second eleven minutes later. With that score, the superb Legia Warsaw midfield that features Roger (pictured below), Maciej Iwański and Sebastian Szałachowski seemed to wake-up and took control of the match. Off a defensive miscue, FC Moscow gave possession up and Maciej Iwański quickly capitalized, fed the ball to Roger who promptly found the back of the net. Legia Warsaw looked like they tied it with another goal by Roger, off a beautiful cross, in added time but it was dubiously called back as offside. The second leg heads to Moscow in two weeks.
