FC Moscow v FC København UEFA Cup preview

By: j | September 18th, 2008

In one of the days most exciting UEFA Cup matches, The Citizens welcome Ståle Solbakken’s FC København to Moscow.

FC København is one of the most efficient clubs in the Danish Superliga, fortifying a tight defensive mindset but have equally had difficulty scoring of late. I am expecting them to play a tight 3-5-2 in Moscow, with a goal to attack on the counter and at least secure a point. Internationally capped Danish striker Morten Nordstrand will pair with César in the attack and Hjalte Nørregaard will lead a tight midfield.

FC Moscow will need to employ similar tactics as they did against the Legia Warsaw in the qualifying stages. Emotions will be high for The Citizens but they need patience in the attack and control in marking. Aleksandr Samedov will need to pay extra care in watch against the counter and Oleg Blokhin would be wise to utilize Maxi López in the attack today.

I will report on the match as it concludes.
