

Dynamo Moscow advance in the Russian Cup
By: j | August 8th, 2008In the Russian Cup action this week, Moscow Dynamo advanced with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Krasnodar “Kuban”.
From the first minutes Dynamo took the initiative with an aggressive onslaught. The mid-field duo of the brothers Kombarov were setting the stage with dangerous flanking passes in the attack. In the middle of a first-half the home-team Ruban counter-attacked well although he was turned away by the reliable ‘keeper Vladimir Gabulov. On the thirty-second minute Dynamo lead the most dangerous attack of the match, with venerable Igor Semshova narrowly missing from the penalty line.
Dynamo’s advantage finally came at the fifty-fourth minute a fast combination between Tsvetan Genkov, Danny to Krill Kombarova who headed the ball powerfully to the back of the net to take a 1-0 led. In the final fifteen minutes of a match, the home team bring veteran Bulgarian international Ivaylo Petkov. With only one minute before the end of match, Kuban wins a free kick nineteen meters from the Dynamo goal but once again Vladimir Gabulov comes to the rescue.
