Champions League hunt: Spartak Nalchik
By: j | September 10th, 2008In our review of the ten clubs of the Rosgosstrakh Football Championship with a chance for a Champions League bid, we’ve looked at Rubin Kazan, Dynamo Moscow, Spartak Moscow, Amkar Perm’, CSKA Moscow, Samara Kryliya Sovetov and Zenit Saint Petersburg. With the final three clubs there chances of making it to the final spot is significantly more challenged however they equally should be included and are definite threats for UEFA Cup spots. The first on our list is Spartak Nalchik
Spartak Nalchik remaining schedule

Sep 27 Luch-Energiya Vladivostok
Oct 4 @ Rubin Kazan
Oct 18 Zenit St Petersburg
Oct 25 @ Shinnik Yaroslav
Nov 2 6:00 ET Tom’ Tomsk
Nov 8 @ Samara Kryliya Sovetov
Nov 16 Khimki
Nov 22 @ Saturn Moscow
This has been a great campaign for Yuri Krasnozhan’s club as they have moved considerably up the table. However the remaining schedule will be an enormous test for them to hold their present position with five top clubs (Lokomotiv Moscow, FC Moscow, Rubin Kazan,Zenit St Petersburg and Samara Kryliya Sovetov) in their remaining schedule. To make up lost ground and gain a third place finish they will not only need to gain victories in the other five matches but need earn a minimum twelve plus points from those five. In the remaining ten matches, if they are to succeed they will need to find a new-found offensive attack and generate scoring opportunities. Quite obviously a very outside shot, however a sliver of a chance is there.
