Anatoly Tymoschuk calls out Sunday Mirror
By: j | August 5th, 2008
Shocking, I know but someone is actually questioning the validity of an article that ran in the Sunday Mirror. Well you’re probably sitting there in disbelief like me that absolutely everything in the news you read doesn’t go through the classic fact-checking standards of journalism but such is the modern world.
However in the newest arrival to standing up to erroneous reports in the media, Zenit St. Petersburg captain Anatoly Tymoschuk denies ever providing the Sunday Mirror an interview.
In this interview he was said to comment “Arshavin will be a sensation in England. He will enjoy London because the fans will love him. He will be the most spectacular player they’ve seen in England for a long time.”
In response to this Mr. Tymoschuk has commented via the clubs web site:
“neither me nor any representative of mine gave any comments of the sort and never contacted this media”,
“Currently my representatives are trying to find out the cause and reasons of such sheer absurd(ity). I don’t want to participate in the transfer intrigues(gossip) of interested parties. I consider use of my name and what is said to be my opinion without my consent, in order of attracting additional attention to some possible transfer.”
“My interests in England were(are) protected by Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP, and I suppose they could solve this situation in the necessary way”.
Great to see someone call out the media.
