Season Preview: Saturn Ramenskoe. Afterworld
By: Ivan | February 27th, 2007
Location. Ramenskoe is a not-so-big city but it hosts a strongest team in Moscow region. Saturn has support of general-colonel governor Gromov and club chief manager Vorontsov who becomes a president of Russian Premier League. Efforts to prove that Moscow region can compete with Moscow.
Team. Last season Saturn was the friendliest team – they drawn 16 times. And conceded fewer goals than others – only 24 despite of 11th place. These facts are simple to explain: team’s nickname is Aliens. And yes, they have a good goalkeeper.
Star. Attacking midfielder Alexey Eremenko-jr. was born in Russia but playing for Finland. He is one of the most European-minded Russian players – it’s a pity that we don’t have him in our national team. He is also famous for his countless tattoos.
Transfers. Saturn’ Slovak coach Vladimir Vayss claimed he doesn’t need new players. Hmm, he might be leaving on another planet. Probably Saturn.
Rivals. FC Khimki who are also of Moscow region. And CSKA Moscow – because of mass brawl between them in 2004.
Fact. Saturn’ press service is one the best in Premier League. They are organising Miss Saturn contest (see photo above), making meetings with workers and inviting schoolboys to matches.

Okay, I’ve had enough, I demand to know what the words at the end of each title represent!

Sam, it’s a kind of ‘one-word-introducting’ to each team. Saturn is really not-of-this-world and there is a hoodoo over Dynamo, to explain a few.
Bob, final of Miss Saturn contest will be today. And yes, I’ll post a picture of winner.
